Hi everyone, happy Friday! So I’m gonna keep this short and sweet because my bed is calling my name right now, but I just had to vent it out for a few minutes here. Guys…I lost all of my boots. Like literally I think five or six pairs of boots…who does that??!!
Let me set the scene for you. I’m at home getting ready to go to a baby shower. I’m wearing a dress for one of the maybe 5 times a year that I am not wearing pants and a shirt. I am so not a stylish person (as you all know), but I had a vision in my head as to how this dress was going to look with a cute pair of tall boots that I have; it was going to be as close to stylish as I ever get. So I go to the closet to go grab my boots, and they’re not there….and not only is that particular pair missing, but basically my entire collection of winter boots minus the two pairs I have been rotating all winter long so far are gone. What???!! How does this happen??
I know what you’re thinking first of all, I can’t care about them that much if I’m just now noticing that they’re gone. But that is so not true. I love my boots. Like I said, I’m not a stylish or fashionable person, but I love me some shoes. Always have. I haven’t put in much effort in the dressing department lately so there hasn’t been much of a need to switch up the boots very often, but I was planning to wear them of course.
So after I discover they’re all missing from the closet I assumed they would be in, I don’t panic yet. I assume they’re up in the attic stored away from a day in the summer when I finally found some motivation to clear out space and pack up the winter stuff. I searched through all the boxes in the attic though and they weren’t there. Panic starting to slowly seep in now. So then I go down to the basement and check the few bins we have down there…no boots. Panic fully set in…omg all my beautiful boots are GONE.
It’s ironic that this happened to me two weeks after writing about finding a home for everything in my house. HA. I honestly still have no idea where they disappeared to, but I’m not holding out much hope that they are anywhere in my house. I’m figuring in a fit of decluttering I either went temporarily insane and decided I didn’t need all these boots anymore and decided to donate them (and then proceeded to block out that memory when I came to my senses), or, and more likely, again in a crazy decluttering moment, I accidentally mixed up my bag of boots with a bag of donations, or combined them or something, and somehow accidentally got rid of all my boots.
There’s a 1 percent chance they are in a bin somewhere in our “storage” area which I glanced in but just didn’t have the time or energy to actually attempt to get to the furthest back corner where they might possibly be. But it’s a tiny tiny chance, and I am afraid they are most likely truly gone.
So…that’s it. There’s no real moral of the story or lesson learned. I am probably one of the only people in the world who can lose an entire bin of boots, but I did it. So the next time you’re going to drop off some donations, think of me, and maybe take one more peek into each of the bags to make sure it’s stuff you actually intended to donate.
Have a great weekend!
Oh no, Cassie!!! I’m hoping they’re in your storage room. I feel like you would have noticed a bunch of boots in a bag of donations.
I kind of did the same thing to myself in a round of organizing last year. I bought a bunch of bins that fit under the beds. However, I completely forgot that I had brilliantly decided to use one under one of the boys’ beds for the spare sets of twin sheets. I figured that way if they were needed in the middle of the night, they would already be in their room. And it saved so much room in the tiny hallway closet.
Then when we were packing for vacation last year, I couldn’t find them to save my life! I kept telling Reid that they must still be in a bin in the garage from vacation the year before. Fast forward to cleaning under their beds sometime this Fall. Lo and behold all of the spare twin sheets in a perfectly logical place!
I have a solution. Move to SC. No boots needed! ;) hehehe
What a mystery though! Could they be in your car??!
